Reflection

I had an extremely interesting time making this series of wax faces. I started with bees wax but found it to be rather difficult to sculpt a face with, I then used red wax and it was much easier to work with. I attached hooks on the back of the wooden pieces that I have cut and painted so that way the faces can hang on the wall. The faces that are attached directly on the wall can be easily removed and placed as well they simply stick to the wall easily.

I decided to paint the wax with acrylic paint to give the faces a shiny almost cartoony look. I also like how after the wax has been painted it is hard to tell what the faces are intentionally made of.

Sculpting with wax was extremely time consuming and also painful I might add, it is very different from clay which is a medium I m very familiar with. Once the wax cools down it becomes more moldable and easier to work with but this is only after the wax melts completely.
